American Auto Mags
Cheshire Cruise ....October '06

Really looking forward to tonight.
I've phoned the Nags Head and they've confirmed that the potholes in the approach road
have been filled in, at last ! ....
Now I don't want to be churlish ( have I ever used that word before ? I think not !)
but, not before bloomin' time.
Anyway, that's the first piece of good news.

For quite some time, I've been chasing them to do something about the lighting and
now that we're into Autumn and the nights are getting darker, earlier,
I'm really losing patience and I've told them so.
So, what's the next piece of good news; you've guessed it.
We've got additional lights set up on posts and one of the lampposts,
all pointing into the approach road 'parking zone' and coming on from 6pm til midnight

The third piece of good news is that, following a series of discussions with one of the directors,
we've got our own Cruise Menu, available from 5pm til 9.30pm , every time we meet.

Right, on to the Cruise.
When Cam and I arrived, at about 5.50pm, we see a mustang already there.
Turns out to be Neil, who's come to the Cruise for the first time.
His friends had said to him to come early as it got crowded and he'd arrived about 5.30pm.

He's telling me how original his car is, including the front bumper, where the chrome is in superb condition
Then he points out two marks . .

. . if you look to the left, where the bumper creases upwards and it looks like there's a
'dull' shadow, ( you can't see the one on the right, in this photo ) that has apparently been caused
by water running off the edges of the hood, over the last 40 years, fascinating.

Anyway, while Neil and I are talking, another car comes in and . . .

it's Adam in his black '66 Mustang !
I now take two steps back while these two talk shop.

Another first-timer, Mike from Warrington ( ? ) is one of the 'early birds'
and doesn't the Viper look cool in that colour.

it's turning out to be a Mustang - Fest and before we knew it, there were about eight
of them all next to each other. . a herd of wild ponies !

Here's one . .

and another . . .

I am instructed to say, this is Margaret's car ! As you can tell by the smile on her face.

we've seen this young feller and the dayvan, before, but not with the lights on.

I've said it before and no doubt I'll say it again.
This car looks just 'so right' and Martin patiently posed while I took the photo.

. . . another Mustang, aaahhh yes.
It's a pity this photo doesn't do justice to the paintwork.
All evening there were groups of people admiring the 'mile-deep' red paint.
(Actually, next month I must take another shot cos this one is slightly blurred)
