I
was having some trouble with the camera, it didn't seem to want to switch
on
when I pressed the button, but this shot came out quite well, I thought.
Simon and Louise with one of their fairly recent acquisitions,
a red,white & blue AMC Javelin.

. . the new lighting
definitely helped me to get this photo . .
. . . this is Barrie
with his new toy !
. . . as you can
see, it's now officially dark and . .
. . . I'm struggling
to get the flash to work...... Having said
that, isn't this Corvette fabulous !

Here's Mark and the 56 ( ? ) Chevy he recently brought in from Europe.
Even in this 'natural' state, it looks good.
Are you going to paint it, Mark or leave as is ?
Half a dozen coats of clear matt would do nicely . . . . .

You know, back in
1958, the cars in this country were all black , dark brown or olive
green.
Can you imagine what it must have been like to go over to the States
and see
something like this. What a culture shock !
I'm not the only person who is always pleased to see this car arrive.

. . .er, here's
another M . . . . . .
It looks quite professional the way I've got the reflection on the numberplate.
If only I knew how I did it.

Not all the cars
were Mustangs . . .
As I was heading down into Corvette Corner, the red 'low battery' light
was coming on
in the camera and it was taking forever to warm up enough to take a
photo.
I think there were about six Vettes down at this end.
Damn, 'battery
exhausted' . . . no problem, I've got another set of spares.
Just get them out and put them in the camera . . .
NOTHING . . flat as pancakes. Damn, damn, damn.
Although I've no
more photos to show you,
if you go on the Forum of the Mopar Muscle Association
you'll see that Tony has put a batch up there
http://www.moparuk.com/
Thank goodness , cos I didn't get any Mopar photos at all.
You know what really
annoys / upsets me . .
Geordie Paul and Sue, from Duksville, made the trip from Ashton-u-Lyne
in Paul's 'brand new' pickup.
This was its first public appearance and my bloody camera was dead !!!
HOT NEWS
I was telling
Geordie Dave about my camera batteries and
he reckoned one of his pals had taken some photos !
Here
they are . .
In a copy of Rodder's
Journal that I had with me, Paul found a picture
of the manifold he's used in his truck, when it was brand new, sixty-odd
years ago.
Wow, does that give it a sense of history or what !
It was great to
see Paul Kennedy again, in the Willys
and looking much like his old self.
You could say larger than life, cos he's clearly enjoying his food,
hee, hee.
Incidentally, I
know that quite a few folk enjoyed sampling the Cruise food
and this will now be a regular feature of our Cruise nights.
A lot of folk were
saying what a good turnout it was and
when I did a count mid evening, I got up to 65 cars
before someone started talking to me and I lost count.
I would estimate a total of about 80 'ish and that's not counting
the people who came in their 'workmobiles'.
I'm going to put
a lot of tonight's photos up in the Who's Who page.
So, if one of them is of you and your car, please email me
graham@americanautomags.com
with some background info.,
If anyone else
has taken photos and can give me a link, I'll gladly put it up here
so we can show some more.
On the subject
of burnouts . . . got no problem at all.
The only thing I would ask is, anyone who wants to lay some rubber down
should show commonsense and consideration for other ' cruisers'.
Later in the evening, when it's gone a bit quieter,
if anyone happened to find themselves just outside the front of the
pub
where it's nice and bright and there was plenty of space around them
. . .
well . . . just give us a minute to get our cameras and phones all switched
on !
It's a great way to finish the evening but, like I say,
you MUST ensure you're not going to 'pebbledash' someone else's pride
and joy.
. . . or run into them ! ..
.You are the driver and it's
your responsibility, so no whingeing if something goes wrong !
A big thank you
to everyone who came tonight,
hope you enjoyed yourselves and that we'll see you again
on Wednesday, 1st November.
Graham
( I've bought a new set of batteries for the camera AND a new charger
today )
